This doily seems as a whole but it is made of separate motives that can be seen in the second photo. After completing all of the motives, its frame is crocheted.

Turkish Oya Pattern 5

This edging uses the stitch used to do the classic pattern Solomon’s knot. It is a long chain, drawn up to whatever length is needed for the pattern, then a single crochet is worked back into this long chain by inserting the hook under the one strand that seems to lie apart from the other two.
