This edging uses the same stitch used to do the classic pattern Solomon’s knot. It is a long chain, drawn up to whatever length is needed for the pattern, then a single crochet is worked back into this long chain by inserting the hook under the one strand that seems to lie apart from the other two. It is abbreviated sk in this pattern. For more help with this stitch, see this link: http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa122698.htm
With green: Work bumps along edge: (join to edge with sc, ch 3) repeat around scarf. Now work ‘peaks’: join to bump with sc, *1 sk using picture as guide, now into the 3rd bump ahead work 1 long sc to match lenth of sk, ch 4, work 8 sc around long sc. Join with sc to same bump as base of long sc. Repeat from * all the way around scarf. You can count bumps ahead of time (you’ll want a multiple of 9) or just squeeze a peak onto more or fewer bumps to make it line up at the end. If you want it perfect you’ll want a multiple of 3 peaks, but you can always fill in with an extra small flower.
With peach: Join to 4 chain loop at top of a peak with sc, (ch4, 1sc into loop), repeat twice for 3 loops total. Work 1 sk, join to green loop at top of next peak with sc, and work another 3 loop flower like before. Work 1sk, join to green loop at top of next peak with sc.
First big ‘petal’: Ch 7, join to top of last loop of previous 3 loop flower with sl st. (ch4, work 1 sc around chain of 7) 5x total. Work 4 sc more around chain of 7, join to green loop with sc.
Second and Third big ‘petals’: [Ch 7, join with sl st to 4th of 5 peach loops on previous ‘petal,’ (ch4, work 1 sc around chain of 7) 5x total. Work 4 sc more around chain of 7, join to green loop with sc.] do [] twice for a total of 3 arc shaped petals.
Work 1 sk to move to next peak, and repeat sequence of small flower, small flower, big flower, along all peaks around scarf.
